Consistency

Have you been struggling to stay consistent in God’s word, in prayer, or even in worship daily? I know I have been lately, and it’s been so hard. I also know that when we are struggling with consistency it can affect us in so many ways. When we are not spending time with Jesus and fueling ourselves with His word that makes room for the enemy to step in and push you in a different direction.

Lately as I have been forcing myself to read my Bible and pray, I have felt spiritually attacked and haven’t wanted to do it, I have gotten lost in depression and just feel as though I don’t want to do anything. So, you know what I do? Well, I keep praying, I keep reading Scripture. I don’t give up. Now have I done this every time? No, I am just as imperfect as all of you. I am human so ofc I have fallen, I have chosen to watch YouTube videos, scroll through Instagram for hours, and really just give into the attacks. I let Satan win in a sense because I didn’t choose to fight.

We all get a choice every single day, a choice to take up our cross and follow Jesus (Matthew 16:24), a choice to leave our past in the past, a choice to pray or not pray, a choice to pick up our Bible, and rebuke the devil. The question is, are you going to choose Jesus? Or are you going to choose the world?

God wants YOU! He sees you where you’re at. Jesus said a life with Him was going to be far from easy, it’s going to be filled with persecution, attacks from Satan, and everything hard. James 1:12 tells us, "Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”

If you are struggling today that is a great thing! Now you may be asking me how that is great. Well, it’s great cause it means you haven’t given up. It’s great cause it means you’re going in the right direction.

Think of it this way. If your struggling it means your walking with God. Satan knows God has a plan for you and he doesn’t want you to get anywhere near it. Satan wants you to fail. Satan wants to hurt God, you are Gods most precious creation and since the enemy knows that he is going to go after you to hurt God.

In the valley that seems to never end, that seems dark, seems impossible to escape. Just know you are not alone! God is with you and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You will see the light soon. Just keep going.

Stay consistent no matter how hard it is to keep going. Trust me, I struggle too, just like you do. I may not know what you are going through right now, but God does. He has a plan! If you’re just coming to know God, the enemy will try to deceive you and pull you in the opposite direction. Here is a verse that I encourage you to pray out loud: James 4:7 “Therefore, submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he WILL flee from you.” The devil must flee from you; he has no choice. When you are struggling to stay consistent in the Word of God, that is the enemy working hard to get you far away from growing your relationship with God.

Here are some things I have been doing when I am forcing myself to get out of my emotions and just sit with God. I have this 365 day devotional that I haven’t been too consistent on this year but have been reading here recently. I read that devo along with the verse of the day in the Bible app, I will read the verse in my Bible, listen and read the devotional they have in the Bible app, and read the whole chapter afterward in my bible. That is just a start, if you don’t know where to read start with that, read some Psalms, and if you're just beginning, I highly recommend reading in John which is a part of the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament.

I pray this post helps encourage you in your walk with the Lord! If you have any questions, need some guidance, or anything at all don’t hesitate to DM me on my Instagram or reach out to me in any way listed in my contact’s page. Love you all!! You are so strong and doing a great job! See you all in the next post!
